YWTeen Program

YWCA YWTeen Program serves 4th through 7th-grade girls on girls' development issues: making friends and keeping them; self-image and self-confidence; value of education; and making wise choices for their futures. Leadership Camps are 5-day workshops held at YWCA in which successful professional women address the girls concerning career choices, manners, hygiene, STEM and STEAM topics, ethnic customs, and many other topics. Activities include yoga, tumbling, swimming, art, and talks by guest speakers. The classes focus on helping girls to meet the challenges of their young lives: accepting people who are different from themselves, avoiding gangs and gang behavior such as bullying, learning to evade peer pressure, and pursuing an education to help them achieve their dreams. Leadership Camps help girls expand their horizons beyond their zip codes.
